Psychological Evaluation Report

Patient Name: Ayasugi Yomiko

Patient was brought to 84th Street Construct by unknown Agent. Doctor on call did not see the Agent but was alerted to the presence of the patient by loud pounding on the front doors which tripped the alarm. Patient was immediately rushed into the operating room, suffering from blood loss and multiple bullet wounds. Six in total. She was given anesthetic to keep her unconscious, an immediate blood transfusion was set up and emergency microsurgery began. All bullets still within the patient were removed and the blood vessels repaired.

After the immediate threat to life was dealt with her physical health was ascertained and other internal damage was repaired, necessitating the removal of several feel of intestine. She was given antibiotics to prevent sepsis from setting in. Her identity was then confirmed via a blood sample and orders were received by the doctor to keep her there. She was then restrained to the bed. The doctor noted that when she regained consciousness after the surgery that she seemed to be in some sort of shock. She did not try and escape nor did she question the restraints on her and she answered every question posed to her with little to no hesitation.

The problem was she replied without inflection as well. There seemed to be no feeling behind her words. Before I arrived the doctor had a brain scan run on her and his findings I have included in my report in greater detail but I will summarize them here. The patient has had extensive brain surgery and at a young age as well. Far younger than I or any sane physician would recommend unless there was a life threatening condition. The subject has not one but two cybernetic brain implants. A VDAS unit, the specifications which have been made available later in this report, and another cybernetic device of unknown specification.

The Patient refers to this device as a Sensor and from her descriptions is seems to provide her with a constant stream of information regarding her immediate spatial surroundings as well as composition of non-organic matter. Once she was stable enough to be moved I had the patient transferred to Bayside Recovery Hospital where she continued her physical recovery and physiotherapy. It was at this time I had the first few sessions with her. As with the Doctor, the Patient answered all my questions and showed no signs of lying to me that I could detect.

According to her she does not remember her mother at all. She remembers her father vaguely but was told by the man she calls Boss, that his name was Ayasugi Victor. Despite not speaking Japanese she seems to instinctually use the last name first method of speaking of her own and her father’s name, but no one else’s. She was very young, I estimate around the age of 4 or 5 by her accounts that her father was either killed or she was taken from him. From then on she only knew the man she calls Boss as her guardian and caretaker, though I must stress here that such words do not fit the treatment she received at his hands.

From what she had told me of her living conditions, she was more or less treated as a dog and driven to feral and antagonistic behavior. The more violent she acted the more pleased Boss was and the more he rewarded her After months of this she was then given concentrated training in how to fight, to hurt and to kill. The better she learned, the better she was treated, but at no time did he ever allow her to forget that she belonged to him. From what she told me I believe she achieved an Enlightened state during her first mission as a killer for the Boss. The act of killing a person for such a young mind...for any normal person it would be traumatic but her mind had already been numbed to the trauma due to years of abuse already. Instead the act and the realization of what she had done instead forced her inner Genius to emerge.

It was not long after this that the atrocities continued for I believe it was around the age of 10 that she was given the extensive brain surgery that I have mentioned already. It was after her recovery and the booting up the systems that she began to exhibit mental problems which I will go into detail shortly on. From this point on her training only intensified and she became nothing more than a weapon for this Boss to use. The Patient even now continues to tell me that she is but a tool, nothing more, despite my attempts to convince her otherwise. I have several other tactics I wish to use to hopefully reach her.

Patient was used as an assassin for her captor, there is no other word that fits the man, and according to her she had killed just shy of fifty people over the past fifteen years. On the night of her wounding according to her report, her Boss received word that the Union was coming to make him answer for his various crimes. She was ordered to kill the man, a loyal Union agent, and she did so. I will take this moment to stress to those reading this report that she should not be held responsible for this, due to the circumstances surrounding her and my full summary of her mental state, which I will address shortly.

She claims a masked agent entered the room and took out half a dozen well trained men before she encountered this Agent. She fought this Agent first with her guns and then hand to hand to no avail. The wounds she received were from her Boss. The Agent used her body as cover and then the Agent took out her Boss. She lost consciousness then and when she woke she was in the hospital. She has no idea why the Agent saved her life. Her exact words to this were “It makes no sense. Tactically, if I were the Agent, I would have left me to die.”

The Patient’s mental state is complicated involving several overlapping diagnoses but I will do my best to summarize them in a succinct manner. The patient displays not only obvious Stockholm Syndrome but also a high degree of mental conditioning. I firmly believe that if her Boss had told her to kill herself, she would not have hesitated. However, despite this conditioning and her reverence of her Boss, she also displays confusion and depression at what she sees as the betrayal by her Boss. This event has cracked her world view and currently puts her mind in a state of flux. She has been conditioned to believe that Boss would always look after her and yet she has proof scarred upon her body that refutes this conditioning. The fact that Boss is dead and out of the picture only helps. Thankfully this man included a token of lip service in his conditioning which extends that loyalty to the Union. She is not, however, solid in her belief that the Union will always look after her.

I will implore those reading this with the strongest tone possible, if you wish for this patient to become a loyal member of the Union, we need to ensure that she will see that we have her back. We need to reinforce the belief that we are her caretakers, her friends and her family. Otherwise she may well crack further.

To continue, she also displays a lack of emotions within social contexts, I believe this to stem from her isolation and early abuse and trauma and merely amplified by the addition of cybernetic enhancements to her brain. I have done several brain scans myself and run through dozens of exercises. I believe she does in fact possess emotions, she simply lacks the experience and the ability to properly express them.

Finally, from my sessions with her, I have discovered that the introduction of perfect spatial and non-organic material awareness directly into her brain has had the side effect of hyper focussing her attention to details. I doubt the desire to please her captor helped in this, but she has since the introduction of this cybernetic enhancement developed a firm case of obsessive compulsive disorder. She takes great pains with her personal property and living space to arrange it just so and will tolerate no adjustment of this. She has never once complained nor told people that they are doing something wrong, she merely waits until they have stopped touching something or have left and returns it to the same position as she wants it to be in. Given her spatial awareness this is a simple matter for her.

Her physical health is fine, she has healed very well and will soon be fully capable of field duty, however it is my recommendation that she not be put back into active field duty at all. While I have no doubt that she is capable and would handle any field duty to the best of her abilities I think it would be detrimental to her psychological health. It is my strong recommendation that she be transferred to another city construct, someplace quiet where she can do non-field work and learn how to interact socially. A clerical position would be ideal.

Wonder

Synapse Encoded Notification System and Optical Relay - Level 2 Wonder. This wonder is always active and requires no rolls to use. It was designed using micro-technology and advanced chemical and gene manipulation along with synaptic patterning. Basically put the pathways in her brain have been altered and manipulated to form a very specific form of computer, complete with software. What this does is use her own five senses to take in all information she is privy to, whether or not she is consciously aware of it, as well as using a small micro-receiver that picks up most broadband public transmissions such as radio and television. This information is then filtered through her synaptic system and all relevant information is then displayed through the the cybernetic VDAS enhancement implanted in her brain. These displays come in the form of words and numbers which simply appear, to her eyes, in the air, and take the form of warnings of hazards, distances from her to objects, highlighted routes and the probabilities. In combat this also analyzes the stances of her opponents giving her cues at to what an attack is most eminent. This Wonder does this through the use of advanced technology and use of the Correspondence 1 and Matter 1 spheres. She can also use her own magic and allow the Wonder to interface with her knowledge of other Spheres though this must be done via an Arete roll and only 1 sphere knowledge can be overlaid at any one time. Finally due to the nature of this Wonder she is prone to debilitating migraines(which subtract 2 dice from all dice pools for the rest of the scene), before any scene is begun roll Stamina, diff 6, two successes are needed or she will suffer the onset on a migraine. Also if she is using any of her own spheres in conjunction with the Wonder she will be susceptible to Sensory Overload, which will stun her for a number of rounds equals to the successes gathered plus lessen the use of the sense involved for 3 times the rounds after.

Enhancement

Visual Data & Analysis Spectrum (VDAS) (Device) - Known by the colloquialism the datacrawl and commonly pronounced vee-DAS, the VDAS allows a Technocratic field agent to access the Union’s databases for information. A faint green crawl of data (typically rendered in abbreviations and measured in the metric system) appears at the lower left side of the agent’s vision when the agent sends a mental impulse to trigger the crawl. See this book’s Prelude for a description of the VDAS in action and the sidebar VDAS: The Datacrawl in Chapter Five, (p. 182), for further details about the technology. System: Essentially, this Device functions like the Right-Click rote detailed in Chapter Ten, (pp. 602-603). The agent might have VDAS implanted as a cybernetic interface, or she might wear it as part of her field gear. The worn-gear option allows the agent to take VDAS off, which offers some measure of freedom and reflects a degree of trust on the Union’s part. An agent wearing the VDAS can be tracked, even if the interface has been turned off, so an agent who has the option of taking off her gear has been granted some level of autonomy by her supervisors. In order to use VDAS, the character must be trained in its proper use. The combination of mental-impulse command and multitasking that lets someone use this Device requires Mind 1 and a short, yet essential, training program. Without that training and a correct understanding of Technocratic paradigms, a person who puts on VDAS gear would see nothing unusual; without Mind 1, that person would see a crawl of green data on the surface of the lens but could not read it without massive amounts of eyestrain and distraction. Either way, VDAS gear has a Correspondence/ Data implant in its technology. The Technocracy can track a character wearing it unless she has somehow disabled the tech (as Secret Agent John Courage obviously has), which demands an extensive knowledge of classified Union technology. VDAS technology is standard issue for Black Suits and cyborgs. Other agents may requisition it, or be assigned that technology, on an as-needed basis. Thanks to Google Glass and other similar Sleeper technology, VDAS is coincidental… though not, as the Right-Click description reveals, always reliable.
